Saturday 19th July

BOLSOVER (0) 136 all out

THORESBY COLLIERY (20) 138 for 2

This game was greatly overshadowed by the big event of the evening (Quotation UK first appearance at the ground). The stage was set, well, until it blew apart!!!.

Back to the cricket, and again Chesh lost the toss - no real surprise there.

Ben and Say opened and bowled really well on a very flat pitch. Ben struck first although only after Say had got both openers out off no balls. Say then removed the other opener and quickly added two more wickets. Bolsover pro Rashid who strangely came in at no. four was finding it very difficult against some high quality bowling. Ben then got two wickets in an over to leave Bolsover in trouble at 45-6. We were all thinking maybe we should have booked a support band and how big a mess we would all be after an early finish. Rashid and reggae star Eddie Grant then managed a stand of 65 to extend things. Dnash, who had replaced Say, then struck with the vital wicket of Rashid. Grant then ran himself out and Dnash got the last two wickets, the last with a wicked dipping pie.

Chesh and Dan opened and scored freely until Chesh holed out. Paul came to the wicket and, after a slightly shaky start, started to play with his usual flair. Dan then took a tight second run and was out to a direct hit. Nige came to the wicket after trying to repair the stage and stayed with Paul until victory was achieved. As the winning run was scored the stage had been repaired and all was set for a wild night.(Details to be posted later)

We now look forward to the club’s tour of Norfolk next week and more hangovers.
