Saturday 17th May

Thoresby 87-1 (27 overs) [6 points]

Farnsfield DNB [6 points]

The wonderful summer weather continued as we played host to one of the stronger sides in the division.

Farnsfield won the toss and elected to bat, the opening bowlers Silcock and Hallam bowled a good line and found some movement from a pitch that had been covered again for a good part of the week. Openers Birkett and Nash did a good job preserving wickets and it was not until the fifteenth over that Birkett was out to a highly dubious lbw.

This brought Hughes to the wicket and he stroked the ball to all parts of the ground. One particular over yielded four quality boundaries. Unfortunately Hughes was left stranded on 49 when the rain came down.

It has to be said that Farnsfield had a very poor attitude from this point and were never interested in continuing play. The game was finally abandoned at 5.45pm with a dry pitch and no rain.
