HOSIERY MILLS     256-5 (17 POINTS)

THORESBY              235-8 (8 POINTS)

We continued our abysmal record with the coin and again had to bowl first on what looked like another very good pitch.

Winslade and Patel opened up and again bowled very well with little luck, until Winslade made the breakthrough clean bowling Smail. This brought Jayasinga to the crease and he was dropped on five off Winslade. The same player was then dropped twice in the same over on difficult chances before he got into his stride punishing anything loose. At the other end Loveridge reached his fifty which was chanceless. Jayasinga was dropped twice more, although both chances were very difficult before he became the first of Patel’s four wickets. Loveridge and Graham fell in quick succession before Best came in and played a number of good shots in partnership with Appleton. Best became Patel’s fourth victim near the end of the innings.

In reply Thoresby got off to an excellent start with both Dnash and Birkett looking in good form. The partnership was finally broken with the score on 131, Graham taking a good catch of Loveridge to dismiss Birkett. Winslade was clean bowled for a duck by a very good yorker from Jayasinga. Dnash’s long innings finally came to an end with a very dodgy lbw. Another big stand of 75 followed between Hughes and Patel before they were both bowled in quick succession. Three more wickets were lost before we finally had to except the draw in a game were we had maybe just left a bit too much to do in the closing overs.
