‘Steady, Sedate’ Stuart Evans

Stuart is the current 2nd team opening bat and occasional bowler.
Stu  doesn't believe in hitting the ball hard if he can help it, in fact some would say his best shot is the 'Leave Outside off stump'

His unique attitude to batting in a 46 over game in his own words is " If I can bat the first 44 overs and be 10 or 12 not out, then it gives me chance to kick on in the last 2 overs and try and get to 20!"

The fact he so rarely hits the ball hard is borne out by the bat that his mum and dad bought him, together with stumps, bails and a ball as a set from Cleethorpes Pier for 2 Shilling in 1968, is still serving him so well!!

His wicket taking as a bowler is a bit like his ability to buy his round in the bar after the game – very scarce!! Although if he can bowl downhill with the wind behind him with a new ball at Whitwell's 3rd Team number 11 then he can be a handful!
