Sunday 10th August
Farndon 111-1 (2 points)
Thoresby DNB (2 points)
Abandoned rain
With rain looming yet again we lost the toss. Seven bowlers were used in an attempt to get a bit of match practice before the rain arrived.
The irony was that within five minutes of the game being called off it had stopped raining, but foot-holds were wet and would have needed time to dry out meaning there was not enough time to finish the game.
Sunday 17th August
Thoresby 166-8 (0 points)
After a straw poll among the players as to what to call at the toss, we still lost it!!!.
So we took to the field with new keeper Meldrum
making his debut for the season. The bowling was shared out against some very
good
The only time we really threatened the large total, was a stand of 95 between Zimmer and Birkett but it was just too many and we just had to settle for batting practice.

Sunday 31st
August
Thoresby 168-8 (4 points)
Orston 153-9 (0 points)
This made it three wins in the weekend for the club. We arrived to find the ground slightly improved on last year. Nige finally won the toss and although the wicket looked poor decided to bat.
Orston’s bowler
were helped by the pitch where no two balls bounced the same; wickets
were lost steadily with runs being hard to find. Little Ben batted well for his
twenty odd but at 50-5 it was not looking good. Paul and Nige
took the score to 98 before Nige was out. The game
was then won with a superb stand of 65 between Big Ben and Paul, the highlight
being Ben’s second six that the fielder required a taxi to fetch back. This was
without doubt the biggest hit in a game involving the club this year. Paul
finished with a superb unbeaten fifty to go with the ton he scored against them
in the first game.
Ben then donned the keeper’s gloves to cap an all-round
performance with two catches and a stumping. Orston
were pegged back by tight bowling and a great run out from Hutchy
and never really threatened to get the score as the run rate went up. Wilko bowled well under pressure and both Little Ben and
Lee did well bowling at the end of the innings.
