Sunday 6th July
THORESBY COLLIERY 157 ao (0 points)
FARNDON 158-8 (4 points)
This was one of our worst Sunday batting performances although all credit to Farndon for bowling a good straight line on a slow and low pitch.
Wilkinson played some good shots early after a minor miracle
(Thoresby winning the toss) but fell trying to find the school field. Winslade played the best innings of the day and it was
quite a shock when he fell two short of his fifty. After this
After tea Flinton bowled well and took the first two wickets before the change bowlers Nige and Paul came on and bowled pies which allowed Farndon to get ahead of the run rate. Willis and Nash both took two wickets to set up a close finish but Farndon held on to complete a good win.
WINSLADE 48 WILKINSON 31 HUGHES 37.
FLINTON 2-13 WILLIS 2-25 NASH 2-29
Sunday 13th July – Southwell unable to raise a side. 4 points to Thoresby.
Sunday 20th July
KIMBERLY 204-8 (0 POINTS)
THORESBY 207-5 (4 POINTS)
This game was played in very difficult conditions, the majority
of the team being hungover or having taken part in a
Dutch boxing match. As usual we fielded first and turned in our worst display
with only young Glen fielding brilliantly. Dan was the pick of the bowling
taking four wickets. The forty overs seemed like
sixty and tea was reached with great relief.
Fortunately by the time we batted heads were better and we batted well. Paul
again played shots all round the ground but Chesh
played an even better innings to guide us to victory.
This rounded off a superb weekend for
the club with three victories and, to quote Paul’s dad, "A bloody
good p*** up.
